Foundation English Language Programme

The English language programme is to help students to enhance their language skills prior to enroll onto the diploma and degree programs.

  • Prepare students for full diploma and pathways to our university partner to various degree programs at Newcastle,
  • Enhances students’ ability to read, write, speak and Listen in English,
  • Enables students to speak confidently in conversations,
  • Equips students to express emotions, opinions and observations in English,
  • Improves students’ essay writing and research skills.
  • Study Programme

    Level 1 :  Elementary
    Level 2 : Intermediate,
    Level 3 : Advanced.

    All the above three levels will emphasize on the following areas:-

    • Speaking and Listening : Presentation skills,  identifying details, asking for and giving opinions during conversation.
    • Reading : Analysing vocabulary,  word froms, grammatical and syntactical errors, identifying general and specific information.
    • Writing :  Writing business letters,  memos and reports,  critical analysis,  meeting skills and dictation.

    Course duration :  Three to six months.

     
    GCE “ O “ Level Preparatory Course

    i.   Preparatory Course For Singapore-Cambridge General Certificate of Education (O Level) Examination

    The Singapore-Cambridge General Certificate of Education (Ordinary Level) Examination is an annual examination given in Singapore.The GCE O level course is a worldwide awarded qualification and its examination is set by the University of Cambridge and the Ministry of Education in Singapore. In addition, it is an academic pathway for students to: 1) entrance into pre-university 2) entrance into junior college 3) entrance into Polytechnic 4) entrance into tertiary studies. The course is usually taken by students at the end of their fourth year in secondary school, with age of 16.

    ii.    Aims & Objectives/Expected Outcomes

    The Newcastle School of Management is engaging to deliver education that is focused on enhancing students’ learning capabilities and career Prospects in various professional fields. The main objective of this course is to assist students who pass and obtain good results in their examination so they can pursue their next pathway of education into the next level in either local or overseas college. In addition, this course will also help students to:

    • Building up confidence in the final examination
    • Techniques involve in the examination
    • Derive the answers for past exam papers
    • Focus on examination preparation

    iii. Target Students/Admission Requirements

    • Both local and oversea students must be at least 15 years of age or above as of 1st January of the Academic    Year.
    • Students have completed Secondary Three education or its equivalent.
    • Students must at least study five subjects, including English and Elementary Mathematic as compulsory subjects.
     

    Diploma in Business Administration (Business, Travel and Tourism)

    This Diploma is designed to equip students with essential knowledge and skills to meet the needs of the business, travel and tourism industry on a global scale. Students will gain a broad knowledge of the management principles and upon successful completion may have the option to progress to an undergraduate programme for further specialization in their choice of study.

    This Diploma is designed to equip students with essential knowledge and skills to meet the needs of the Information Technology (I.T) industry on a global scale. Students will gain a broad knowledge of the I.T knowledge and upon successful completion may progress to an undergraduate programme for further specialization in their choice of study.

    This course has been designed to satisfy the pre-requisite for entry into University’s Bachelor of Information Technology programmes with advanced standing.
     

    Diploma in Early Childhood Education

    This course is designed to bring students through studies in children’s development, the tenets of early childhood education, as well as the various skills and competencies required of a professional early childhood educator. Opportunities for the application of pedagogical knowledge, planning and designing curriculumand working with families and the communities provided in the various modules will prepare students with contemporary strategies for early childhood settings of the 21st century.
